Why is retreat beneficial?
As with any skill we are learning, when we really put our mind into it, we can learn a lot in a short time. Our busy lives are full of distractions, and our attention is usually drawn outwards at the cost of forgetting or simply being unaware of our inner life. Retreat provides the perfect place to explore our minds in a peaceful situation away from outer distractions. We can only be inspired by those great teachers and yogis of this practice lineage such as Jetsun Milarepa who have gained amazing insight and realization through their retreats and diligent practice.
Retreats at the Centre
Venerable Choje Lama Rabsang, the resident teacher, has stated that he would like this Centre to provide a proper practice space with guidance for people to deepen their meditation and Buddhist practice. Also the 12th Tai Situpa, spiritual head of Palpung centres, has said that this Centre should be favourable and supportive to practice. Eight meditation/retreat rooms are available, and teacher´s guidance is available on request.
This combination of close guidance by a highly qualified and experienced meditation teacher plus practice space is a rare opportunity. Following in the footsteps of the great masters of the lineage and practising under the umbrella of their blessings, we hope the practice done at the Centre will bring Dharma to flourish within and without, benefiting limitless number of beings!
The Centre has eight beautiful and peaceful meditation rooms, which can be used for short or longer periods of practice. Because the Centre has a resident teacher, you can get personal guidance, instructions and support for your practice. If you wish to discuss about this possibility, please don’t hesitate to contact the Centre.
Rooms have views either looking into the Centre´s garden or overlooking the valleys and hills. When booking your retreat time, you can choose between these options. If you wish to discuss your personal retreat schedule, receive instructions or guidance from the teacher, please contact the office.
A suggested donation for a retreat room for a day or night is £10, which does not include meals. Personal retreats are self-catering, but you can use the centre’s kitchen facilities.
