Personal Retreats

A Warm Welcome to Retreat in Palpung Wales

An opportunity to find inner calm and deepen your Dharma practice

  • The Rooms

The Centre has nine good-sized, comfortable and light rooms with a bed, bedside table, shrine table, lamp, chair, storage cupboard and a meditation box. One of the rooms has a disability access.

Depending on the availability one can choose a south facing view over the hills and valleys, or more quiet side, north facing and overlooking the Centre's meditation garden.

There is a shared shower and toilet at the end of the corridor.

As the number of the rooms is very limited, it is recommended that you will book your stay well in advance. We won’t be able to take same day bookings.

  • The Kitchen

Personal retreats are self-catering at the moment. There is a fully equipped kitchen for the sole use of the retreatants in the retreat wing. Every retreatant will get their own cupboard and space in the fridge.

You can bring your own foods along, or do shopping when you arrive. There is a large supermarket in the town, about 7 minutes walk away from the Centre. There are also smaller shops in the town closer to the Centre.

We request not cooking meat / fish in the premises, but if you need to eat meat, please discuss with the staff how it can be arranged.

  • Your Retreat Schedule

Everyone who comes to stay at the Centre and is doing a personal retreat, should have some kind of a daily practice schedule to follow.

You can plan your schedule before you arrive, or if you haven’t done a retreat before and would like to have guidance in how to build the daily schedule, you can arrange a meeting with our resident teacher.

Having a practice schedule supports the inner discipline and practice. Retreat schedule usually has at least 4 practice sessions and set breaks (the length of your sessions depends much on your experience and practices you are doing).

  • Cost

Suggested donation for a personal retreat is £15 / night (or a day should you only book one day).

A retreat stay means a full time practice schedule, with at least 4 practice sessions and minimum of 6h practice / day. We can can provide a few retreat schedule suggestions if you need.

You can of course do less practice, and stay as a visitor (£25 / night), and then you don’t need to have a specific retreat schedule to follow.
